Liposuction Versus Non-Invasive Body Sculpting: What’s the Difference?

Liposuction versus Non-invasive Body Sculpting: Which One Is Better for You?

In the world of body contouring, there are several procedures that can help you achieve a slimmer and sleeker figure. Both liposuction and non-invasive body sculpting have their own pros and cons, making it difficult to choose one over the other. Which one is better for you? Let’s break it down to find out:

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess fat from your body. It’s most commonly used on the abdomen, back, love handles, arms, thighs, and buttocks. Depending on your personal needs, the procedure can be combined with other types of procedures such as abdominoplasty or breast augmentation. When it comes to body contouring, liposuction is the go-to method for the permanent removal of fat for patients. It’s the most common and effective body contouring procedure.

What Is Non-invasive Body Sculpting?

Non-invasive body sculpting is a less effective alternative to liposuction. These procedures are less painful than liposuction and are performed in less time. Because it’s non-invasive, there are no incisions, scars, or anesthesia required, making it a great option for those who want to avoid an invasive procedure altogether. Non-invasive body sculpting targets fat cells in the areas where you have stubborn fat deposits. They’re often found in the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and arms. The procedure is with very little discomfort, making it perfect for people who can’t tolerate the pain of liposuction.

How Do They Work?

Liposuction is an invasive procedure that involves the use of a small tube or cannula to remove fat from your body. The procedure requires various degrees of anesthesia. The cannula is inserted through small incisions into the area of your choice, allowing the surgeon to remove the fat through the tube. The fat is then extracted and suctioned out of your body through a large tube.

Non-invasive body sculpting, on the other hand, is a non-surgical procedure that doesn’t require any incisions or stitches. There are three main ways to perform a non-invasive body sculpting procedure. The first and most common method is by freezing the fat in a procedure like CoolSculpting®. The second is by melting the fat with radiofrequency energy such as truSculpt iD®. The third method is by stimulating muscle hypertrophy with a medical device like EmSculpt®. These non-invasive procedures can be performed in the office in as little as 30 minutes making it ideal for lunchtime procedures with little downtime.

Pros and Cons of Liposuction

Liposuction is a one-time procedure that can provide long-lasting results. Because it’s an invasive procedure, there may be side effects such as scarring, swelling, bruising, and discomfort during the healing process. Also, you may experience mild pain and discomfort after the procedure. The entire recovery period can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks. Liposuction can also leave scars. If you have the procedure done by an experienced surgeon, there is a small chance that the scar will be noticed. But if you have it done by a less experienced surgeon, the scar might be seen.

Pros and Cons of Non-invasive Body Sculpting

Non-invasive body sculpting is not as effective as liposuction. It’s not as effective in terms of removing fat from the body or reducing the overall size of the treated area. Overall, non-invasive body sculpting is best used to treat areas with less fat. Non-invasive body sculpting doesn’t have the same side effects as liposuction, making it a more suitable treatment for people who have allergies, are sensitive to pain, or have a high risk of bleeding during surgery. Because it’s a non-surgical procedure, non-invasive body sculpting doesn’t carry the same risks as liposuction. This is why it’s best used for patients that are looking for a low-risk option for body sculpting.

Which One Is Better for You?

When it comes down to it, both procedures have their own set of pros and cons. Which one you choose will depend on the area you wish to treat, your pain tolerance, and your medical history. If you have a large amount of fat to remove, then liposuction is the best option for you. If, on the other hand, you have small pockets of fat you wish to remove, then non-invasive body sculpting is the better option.
